Yes, I know it is 5th May, but we needed an extra day to make the jump into lightspeed.
Here at In The Rebellion We Trust, we make any excuse to celebrate an unofficial geek public holiday! We have scoured the Galaxy in search of the best content to bring you the the latest StarWars related news.
1) The Cast for Star Wars VII has been Announced
You may not like Lucasarts for selling the franchise, but you have to admit Disney can make movies right. On Tuesday, it was announced who would acting along side the cast of the original trilogy including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.
The new cast includes John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.
2) Star Wars Expanded Universe will not be kept for movies VII-IX
While this makes Star Wars traditionalist everywhere cry in agony, it is not all bad. “In order to give maximum creative freedom to the filmmakers and also preserve an element of surprise and discovery for the audience, Star Wars Episodes VII-IX will not tell the same story told in the post-Return of the Jedi Expanded Universe.” Consider it a way to breed new life into an older franchise. I am in love with the Young Jedi Knight series by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta.
3) Brands doing Social Media RIGHT!
Brands have taken to social media (particularly Twitter) to communicate with their customers. Brands such as Oreo, Microsoft, Mountain Dew, IMDB and even NASA have used StarWars day to promote themselves. Wizards of the Coast, of Hasbro, have made a slideshow of Twitter post of their head designer and prominent media figure, Mark Rosewater, in a number of StarWars costumes.
