Google Search Indexing Issue on July 15th
ICYMI: On July 15, Google confirmed there was an issue with its search index impacting many sites indexing new content and displaying that content in Google Search and on Google News.
The following morning, Google said that all the issues are now fully resolved, saying “We fixed the issue with indexing. There will be no more updates”.
Confirmed Bug Affecting Google Ads & Analytics Reporting
Last Friday, Google confirmed there was a bug affecting Google Ads and Google Analytics reports. Almost nine hours later, Google Ads liaison Ginny Marvin says the issue with Google products has been resolved.
Ginny Marvin further adds that “there were reporting delays, but ads continued to serve & performance data is now available. Advertisers using Smart Bidding should not apply data exclusions. Also, UA data is fully restored; GA4 data will be fully restored soon“.
Display & Video 360 July Updates
Google Display & Video 360 has announced new updates with additional metrics in instant reporting, optimised targeting for YouTube video action campaigns, custom bidding algorithm overview table improvements, new templates in instant reporting, and more.
Users with advertiser access can now accept negotiations at the advertiser level, and no longer need to rely on partner-level users to set up a deal synced to DV360. At the Advertiser level, users can now import and accept a negotiation by going to My Inventory > Negotiations. The accepted deal will show up under the advertisers’ My Inventory.
Reporting Outages within Numerous Google Platforms
Google has confirmed an ongoing issue causing reporting delays in Google Ads products and Google Analytics. Ginny Marvin, the Google Ads Liaison, also posted about this on Twitter, saying that they are “currently working to address the issue“.
The affected users can access Google Ads, but may not have access to the most recent data.
New YouTube Shopify Partnership
YouTube has introduced new shopping features for creators, including the ability to link storefronts and sell products directly on the platform through a partnership with Shopify.
YouTube’s partnership with Shopify will allow creators and merchants to display products throughout their channels, during live streams, or at the end of videos.
Google Ads New Ad Creation Tools
Google Ads has announced three new features to make the process of creating ads and collaborating with team members much easier. The new features are voice-over audio, video ads for YouTube, and an asset storage and organisation feature.
Google Ads Liaison Ginny Marvin also made the new feature announcement on Twitter, which gives advertisers the ability to create and collaborate, without leaving the ads platform.
CNAME DNS Verification in Search Console
Google has announced a new way to verify your site and property in Google Search Console with DNS CNAME verification in Google Search Console. Google mentioned that DNS changes may take some time to apply.
The new DNS method, CNAME, was actually an option in the old Webmaster Tools but not in the new Search Console interface.
Google Business Profiles Automated Messaging FAQs
Google has rolled out a new feature for Business Profiles that allows users to set up automated responses to frequently asked questions (FAQs) from customers. The new feature can be managed under the FAQs section of the messaging section.
Using this feature, you can suggest questions for people to ask when messaging your business via your Google Business Profile.
Google’s New AR Prototypes
Google has announced it will begin testing new AR experiences with a limited number of trusted testers. These include in-lens displays, microphones, and cameras, that Google will start to test next month in the real world.
Google explained these can be used to “enable experiences like translating the menu in front of you or showing you directions to a nearby coffee shop“.
Smart Shopping Campaigns Automatic Update to Performance Max
ICYMI: Google has started rolling out automatic updates converting Smart Shopping campaigns into Performance Max. Google strongly recommends upgrading your campaigns as soon as you can.
Google will send a notification about 2-3 weeks before the updates take effect and provide a specific date when your campaigns will be converted. Some Smart Shopping campaigns using features like vehicle ads will be completed in early 2023.
