Google Analytics Now Illegal in Austria
On December 22, the Austrian data regulator said the use of Google Analytics on Austrian medical news company NetDoktor breached the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As a result, Google Analytics has been made illegal in Austria.
The data being sent to the US wasn’t being properly protected against potential access by US intelligence agencies, the regulator said in a decision that was published last week. Days earlier it was revealed that European Parliament’s Covid-19 testing website had also breached GDPR by using cookies from Google Analytics and Stripe, according to a decision from the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS).
Google Ads Bug Again For Gmail On Desktop Safari Browsers
Google has confirmed a bug impacting how ads are served on Gmail desktop with Safari browsers. The bug seems to be an issue with displaying or serving the ads to this “significant subset of users” on Safari desktop while accessing Gmail.
Google said “we will provide an update by Jan 18, 2022, 8:00 PM UTC detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.”
YouTube Launched YouTube Media Kit For Creators’ Brand Promotions
Media Kit is a feature available through YouTube BrandConnect with the goal of helping creators pitch themselves to brands, by creating a sharable summary that gives advertisers deeper insights into their audiences.
The new MediaKit display will provide a shareable summary of your channel audience and viewer stats, including subscribers, unique viewers, average watch time per clip, and more. YouTube says that the new MediaKit option will be rolling out to creators in the US, UK and Canada ‘over the next few months’.
Google Search Console Launches Desktop Page Experience Report
Google launched a new Page Experience Report for Desktop in Google Search Console to help site owners understand Google’s ‘good page experience’ criteria. You can access the report by going to Search Console > Page Experience link under the experience tab.
“To support the upcoming rollout of page experience ranking to desktop, Search Console now has a dedicated desktop section in its Page Experience report to help site owners understand Google’s ‘good page experience’ criteria,” Google said.
Google Recipe Markup Now Requires Specific Times
Google has updated the recipe schema markup documents to remove all references to time ranges for food prep, cook time and total time as a supported field type. Now you need to specify a singular time, and no longer provide time ranges.
Google wrote that it “removed guidance about specifying a range for the cookTime, prepTime, and totalTime properties in the Recipe documentation.“
Google Ads’ Updated Experiments Page
Google Ads rolled out an updated Experiments Page where advertisers no longer have to create a separate campaign draft and changes made to the original campaign are automatically synced to the experiment.
Changes from the experiment to the base campaign can also be applied with a single click. The new experiment sync feature automatically updates the trial with any changes made to the base campaign.
Google Display & Video 360 Workflow Improvements For Insertion Order And Line Item Overviews
Google Display & Video 360 teases new updates on workflow improvements by bringing the efficiencies of the combined view to the insertion order and line item overviews.
We’ll soon see pinned views, more insights, greater workflow efficiency, and more inline controls.
Google Ads Launches Placement Reports For Performance Max Campaigns
Google Ads has launched placement reports for Performance Max campaigns. Placement reports can be generated to see where ads have served for Performance Max campaigns as well as how many impressions they’ve received.
Google created the placement report to provide some insight into where Performance Max ads are showing, which may help advertisers with their brand safety efforts.
