Updated Google Ads’ Unavailable Video Policy
Google has updated its policies for the ‘unavailable videos section’ of the Google Ads technical requirements. The search company unveiled four new examples of why a video ad may be disapproved.
This should enable advertisers to understand why the ads aren’t showing and how to resolve the issue.
Mislabelled Errors in Search Console
Google has confirmed that Google has relabelled many of the rich results issues in the Search Console from “errors” to “warnings”. These structured data issues were likely just warnings and not errors.
Google said that “this is strictly a reporting issue and did not affect whether or not a rich result could be displayed in Google Search results”.
V12 of the Google Ads API
Google has announced the v12 release of the Google Ads API. To use the Google Ads API v12 features, users need to upgrade their client libraries and client code.
The new API includes updated conversion tracking, supports additional services such as location targeting, and removed support for certain features and campaigns.
New Google Performance Max Features
Google has announced three new Performance Max features to help advertisers plan effective holiday campaigns, customise their asset strategy, and evaluate their results.
Last year, Google said that 54% of shoppers used five or more channels—like search, video, and social media—to shop over a two-day holiday period.
Google’s Bumper Ad Creation Tool
Google’s bumper ad creation tool, which shortens longer videos to six-second bumper ads, is now globally available. The bumper ad tool has been in testing since 2019. It allows advertisers to create bumper ads for video reach campaigns effortlessly.
The bumper ad creation tool is powered by a machine learning model that identifies important scenes and brand elements from the original video and adapts them for shorter formats.
Google Ads’ New Podcast Placement
Google has announced that starting today, advertisers can now align their ads with podcast content globally by simply creating an audio or video campaign and select “Podcast” as a placement.
In the US, YouTube is the second most frequently used service for consuming podcasts.
Universal Analytics 360 Sunset Date Extended to July 2024
Google is pushing the sunset date of Universal Analytics 360 to 2024 which gives enterprise users more time to transition to Google Analytics 4. The last day to switch from Universal Analytics 360 to GA4 is changing from October 1, 2023, to July 1, 2024.
Google has also unveiled several new GA4 updates, including a new homepage experience, real-time behavioural modelling reports, and custom channel grouping.
New YouTube Features for Licensed Healthcare Providers
YouTube has announced that licensed healthcare providers can now apply to make their channels eligible for new health product features – a suite of information resources released last year.
All channels that apply will be reviewed against these guidelines, and the license of the applying healthcare professional will be verified.
